Think about Future You

Think about Future You
How do you know when a decision is the right one or not?

Secret? You don’t!

But, don’t lose hope on yourself! One trick is to ask yourself what would your future self think of this decision?

Would your future self be grateful you said yes to opportunity? Would they be disappointed that you neglected to write that important meeting down and set your timer so you wouldn’t miss it?

What do you think? Would this help you make decisions?

Name your Emotions

Name your Emotions
Our days are bombarded with emotions. Being a human is hard work!

But being weighed down by all these emotions just creates mental blocks in our brain. We need to release these emotions and one way to speed this up is by naming them.

“I feel anger”
“I feel sad”
“I feel guilt”

Naming them releases the hold they have on us letting us get back to ourselves.

Have you tried this before? How did it go?

I also love to grab my favorite essential oil to breathe in as I do this exercise!

Check Emails at Specific Times

Check Emails at Specific Times
Emails can be overwhelming. *ping* *ping* *ping*

Then each time you open the email, you get distracted by it, then by something else, then something else. You know!

Check your email at designated times of the day and make it 3 times max. Even though each email SEEMS urgent, I bet you can say most are truly not when you really look at them. Let your boss, or whoever might email you truly urgent items, to let you know some other way or tell them what time you check your email.

Do you get lost in rabbit holes when you try to just check your email?

Do: Designate days for Cleaning

Do: Designate days for Cleaning
Do you have trouble staying on top of chores?

Designate a day of the week for those recurring ones.

Laundry on Sunday, Meal plan on Fridays, Clean the family room on Tuesday, etc!

This helps the mental load of decision making too. No thinking of what needs to be done on Sunday, you know its laundry day!

Do you designate days for anything?

Practice Saying No

Practice Saying No
Do you have trouble saying no?

What you need is… practice! That’s right. Just practicing say no can make each no that much easier to do. This goes for any commitments that are driven by guilt or ‘should’. Not the necessary ones like going to the dentist or doctor!

Role playing saying no before an event where you might be tempted to give in to a yes could be helpful. Rehearse it with a friend or partner.

What do you think? Do you think practice will make it easier to say no?
